WHAT IS A FREEZE-DRIED PETAL?

Floral preservation by means of freeze drying is accomplished by a scientific process called "sublimination" in which the flowers are frozen to 25 degrees below zero.

Freeze drying is the most technologically advanced of all floral preservation.

Your flowers will retain their original shape and size. Most colours will remain true, but some will darken, and some shades of pink change slightly too.

The result is real 100% biodegradable rose petals that won't wilt and won't stain with all the beauty of fresh rose petals with none of the hassle.

For super soft petals, you can re-hydrate them in a steamy bathroom, not in the shower, for around 30-60 mins. The rose petals will then become very soft silky and pliable! Or place into a cold unheated garage overnight.

The actual weight of the petals can vary dramatically depending on the humidity. If the petals are kept in a dry place they weigh almost nothing, if they are kept in a more humid area the weight for the same number of petals is much greater. That is why we offer our petals by volume rather than weight. So you know you are getting what you pay for.

Use freeze-dried rose petal wedding confetti in your flower girl's basket, scatter them along the path of the bride and groom, or toss them over the happy couple, decorate the tables at your reception, or spread them in the nuptial suite! Place them in gift boxes and enclose an engagement ring, float in a centerpiece with candles.

Here are some ideas for rose petals in your wedding:

* Invitations and thank you notes: 2 large confetti boxes (4 litres of petals) for approximately 75-100 cards.
* Flower Girl Baskets: 1-2 small confetti boxes (0.5-1 litre of petals) per girl.
* Wedding Toss: 1 small confetti box (0.5 litres of petals) between 2-3 guests. Two litres of petals gives about two small handfuls.
* Aisle or Path: 1/2 small confetti box (0.25 litres of petals) per square meter for light coverage. 1 small box (0.5 litres of petals) per square meter for moderate coverage. 1 large box (2 litres) per square meter for light coverage, creating a blanket of rose petals. Reception tables: 1 large confetti box (2 litres of petals) to scatter rose petals over 5 to 6 tables of 8-10 persons at the evening reception.
* Path and Bath: 2-3 large confetti boxes (4-6 litres of petals) to float in the bath.
* Romantic Evening: 1-2 large confetti boxes (2-4 litres of petals) depending on the bed size & the coverage you are looking for.
